Said Mick Daniels, owner of MD Transport Ltd about his new Renault Trucks C Range 6X2 rear steer with a McPhee mixer body.

MD Transport, a franchisee of Concrete2You – a subsidiary of Aggregate Industries, specialises in the delivery of concrete to building sites. Looking to replace an existing 18T truck on their three trucks fleet, Mick approached Andy Cross at RH Commercial Vehicles for assistance.

“Having a powerful engine and the ability to manoeuvre in tight locations is a must when looking for a new truck for the business. I have been very impressed with previous Renaults on the fleet so I opted for another one – they keep getting better and better.”

The C Range has a GVW of 26T and a max torque of 1400 rpm. It also features double air suspension on the front and back axles to assist the vehicle off-road.

Mick said, “The air suspension is fantastic! It can lift the truck out of muck and help tip more efficiently and quickly. It has really boosted efficiency and productivity.

Comfort is also an essential consideration for the business, as drivers can spend the night in their vehicles. Renault Trucks makes these considerations a priority by ensuring the cab is like home from home.

The cab in this truck includes plenty of lockable storage compartments, bottle holders, 7” multimedia touchscreen and 24V sockets for accessories. The driver’s seat has been upgraded to feature adjustable lumbar support, heating and ventilation systems, quick drop and height setting memory.

A sérénité bunk has also been added which has additional comfort for the driver plus we have added additional sockets, a 24L refrigerator, bunk lighting and curtains for extra comfort and privacy when drivers spend the night in their cabs.

“The drivers love the trucks.” Mick said. “When they have to spend the odd night out, they have everything they could possible need with them.

“When on the road, operation is simple, they prefer the rear steer over other makes – it’s so much easier to manoeuvre in one go. They also move so well off-road – which is essential as they spend more time on rough terrain than on the road.

Overall, Mick found the product and service from RHCV spot on. Andy Cross communicated excellently and kept him informed throughout the entire process. When asked, he said he would return to RHCV in the future.

“If I had all the money in the world, I would still buy this truck. I love it.”
